Paris, often called the culinary capital of the world, is a haven for pastry lovers. From buttery croissants to delicate tarts, the city's patisseries and boulangeries are the epitome of artistry and indulgence. For Michelin-starred pastry chef and co-owner of Sollip, Bomee Ki, Paris is a source of inspiration and delight – a city where tradition and innovation collide in every bite. With a background rooted in French pastry techniques honed at London’s prestigious Le Cordon Bleu and a career spanning continents, Bomee has an expert palate and an eye for excellence. Here, she shares her personal guide to the best bakeries in Paris—where each pastry tells its own story and captures the essence of this gastronomic paradise.

It’s one of my must-visit bakeries in Paris. Their escargot chocolat-pistache and chausson aux pommes are absolutely delightful. The thick crust and dense interior of their pain des amis are packed with deep, addictive flavours – definitely a must-try. The charming 19th-century exterior and vintage interior add to its appeal, making it a perfect spot to enjoy some delicious pastries.

It offers an array of classic pastries and seasonal treats. Chef Claire Damon's desserts are truly enchanting and elegant. Her Pamplemousse Rosa, a delicate grapefruit tart with a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, showcases her exquisite touch. The chausson aux pommes, a flaky pastry filled with tender, caramelised apples, which is my favourite chausson so far, and the pain perdu is equally unmissable.

Renowned for its perfect blend of modern and classic pastry techniques. I love the balanced flavours here, especially how the chef uses and balances chocolate. The pain perdu, prepared à la minute in their morning salon, is amazing, and the churros are highly recommended as well.

Utopie stands out for its innovative use of ingredients and presentation. Named the best baguette in Paris for 2024, its taste is equally impressive. Their baguette au charbon and pain au levain are particularly popular.

Although I haven't visited since Chef Fabrice Le Bourdat left, Blé Sucré remains one of my favourite boulangeries & pâtisseries. I used to stay nearby just to enjoy their croissants every morning. They have a perfect balance of buttery flavour, a soft and airy inside, and a beautifully flaky, golden-brown outside. I wish I could have them every day; they truly make you smile. The palmier filled with raspberry jam is a special treat, and their pastries, warm sandwiches, tarte tatin, madeleines, and mendiants are all amazing.
