Finding the perfect scent for your home is a very personal experience and usually requires in-store visits to see what tingles the senses most. Once you’ve found your favourite, however, shopping for candles and diffusers becomes a tad easier. There are, of course, several bestsellers that garner the attention and likes of many, celebrated for their alluring aromas. We round up some of the best places in Hong Kong to get your candle and diffuser fix.
Cochine
Inspired by the elegant Saigon, Cochine uses the finest essential oils from plants unique to Vietnam. With a range of luxury candles, diffusers and fragrances to choose from, the brand captures an essence reminiscent of tropical sun-kissed evenings. Founded by skincare and fragrance specialist Kate Crofton-Atkins, who moved to Saigon upon falling in love with the city’s romantic aura, Cochine offers charming scents which embody beauty, quality and style. The White Jasmine & Gardenia Candle (US$65) and the White Jasmine & Gardenia Diffuser (US$80) are our favourites.
Goutal
Founded in France in 1981 by Annick Goutal, the Goutal perfumery specialises in fragrance with collections ranging from luxury perfumes, diffusers, candles, home scents, body creams, and more. With a fascinating history ranging from Goutal’s background in music (being a pianist), modelling, and eventually perfume creation, the label pays tribute to her lifeline—blending poetry, nature, culture, and music in her work. Maison Goutal opened its Hong Kong outpost in 2019 and offers a sensory experience for all its visitors. Try the signature L’Eau d’Hadrien Candle (HK$610/185g), also Goutal’s first and most well-loved curation, for a touch of Tuscan sun, a scent inspired by lemon trees and cypress to reflect the treasured Memoirs of Haden passage.
