Adrian Cheng is on a roll. The Hong Kong entrepreneur is the CEO and Executive Vice Chairman of New World Development, Executive Director of Chow Tai Fook, and Founder of the K11 brand. Recently launching his latest venture, K11 ARTUS, Cheng aims to curate an artisanal home experience to its guests, while offering all the premium facilities, service, and amenities found in five-star hotels. The ultra-private, ultra-luxury residential property inspires discovery and exchange in a space that also promotes creativity through the arts. Looking to escape the hustle of city life, Aiden Bradley visited the newly-opened residences for a one-night stay in total bliss.

Location
Located on the iconic Tsim Sha Tsui harbourfront, the establishment sits atop the K11 MUSEA shopping mall, nestled between its sister projects—Rosewood Hong Kong and K11 ATELIER. K11 ARTUS is the latest development from Adrian Cheng, the CEO of New World Development, as part of a 10-year project to revamp Victoria Dockside. The residence is easily accessible via both private and public transport. Guests coming from the MTR can easily access the residence via the underground MTR walkways.
K11 ARTUS is conveniently situated adjacent to the Avenue of Stars, a tourist-clad promenade consisting of handprints and plaques honouring local Hong Kong film stars. The walkway also provides some of the best views of the island and is definitely worth a visit.

Design
The word ARTUS was conceptualised from two words—Art and Domus (Latin for “Home”). Adrian Cheng’s vision for K11 ARTUS was to offer a literal “art home” for creative minds to reside. This theme is reflected everywhere you look.

The award-winning Kohn Pedersen Fox studio designed the exterior of the residence, which is made to resemble waves and ripples in the ocean—a structure that blends seamlessly with the surrounding harbour. Inside, are interiors designed by highly-acclaimed Joyce Wang and Andre Fù. The furniture and décor push the limit of the creative mind, with common areas surrounded by beautiful pieces of art, placed to provoke conversation between intrigued guests.
Upon entry to the residence, we were greeted by a dim-lit lobby featuring dark tones for an immediate calming effect. Scents of wood and musk accompanied the lighting, and almost immediately, the hustle and bustle of the city were behind us. The warm and receptive staff guided us through the lobby towards the lift that would eventually take us up to “The Living Salon”, situated on the 10th floor, where a completely different ambiance awaited. The room was brightly lit thanks to its huge window planes allowing natural light to filter through every nook and cranny. Lighter fragrances filled the air now, bringing in tones of citrus and grass. Needless to say, we were excited to check-in.

Room Design
The Grand Harbour One-Bedroom we stayed in included:
A large open lounge area complete with a dining table for four.
An open kitchen with an induction cooker and coffee machine.
A king-sized bed facing the harbour.
A large bathroom with a bath and shower facing the harbour.
An open plan “walk-in” wardrobe.

The room was decorated beautifully and it was obvious that no expense was spared—the Nespresso Creatista Coffee Machine, the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer, the Aesop amenity kit, to maximise the luxury experience. Light shades of wood were used in the living room to brighten the atmosphere and keep the vibe homely. Around the corner was a large marble-tiled bathroom and a walk-in closet large enough to host guests looking for a long stay. Probably one of, if not the best feature of the room was the bed. Facing directly towards the terrace, the bed allowed an unobstructed view of the harbour. We also had custom-engraved bathrobes with our names on them—a refined touch.

Amenities
Among all the beautiful décor and furnishing are amenities to go with it. K11 ARTUS provided us both with custom-made bathrobes, each with our names on it. There was also a magnifying glass and colour pencil set complete with a wooden stand and canvas for the creative minds.

The washroom was well stocked with items by Aesop—it included a variety of hand soaps, body washes and shampoo kits.

Facilities
All the main facilities of the residence are situated on the 10th floor. The venue features a stunning infinity pool looking over the Tsim Sha Tsui district.

Our advice would be to use this pool during the late afternoon and stay for the sunset as this location offers some of the best views of the harbour as well.

Although basic, the gym at K11 ARTUS provided users with all the basic requirements for a good workout. Classes are also available for booking and include options for HIIT and Yoga. Unfortunately, the venue does not offer any spa services like many of its rivals do. This may be one of the few points of improvement for the residence but we feel that it is an important one.

Dining
The in-room dining function was excellent as it offered a variety of over 10 restaurants to order from the K11 MUSEA mall. If guests fail to find anything that piques their interest, third-party delivery apps can always widen the scope of options.

Breakfast is available in two options—a Western-style “English Breakfast” consisting of beans, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and sausages, or an Oriental Style “Eastern Breakfast” which came with congee and an assortment of dim sum. While both breakfasts were tasty, we feel that the options were very limiting and it failed to capture the essence of the word “ARTUS”. The meals, while homely, did not venture on the creative or artistic side of the word.

Overall
K11 ARTUS is a modern, design-savvy sanctuary, providing the utmost luxury for all its guests. We experienced personalised service throughout our stay, an aspect which many other properties lack. Rooms are tastefully decorated and the views are absolutely spectacular.

Staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and willing to assist your every need. Adrian Cheng has truly managed to create a stay that represents its namesake, ARTUS. Although the service and design are impeccable, we do think that facilities could be improved. Having a spa facility at the residence would uplift the luxury appeal, and offer a pampering service to its guests.

The breakfast options could also be broadened with meals taking on a more adventurous and artistic take to stay true to the brand. Ultimately, readers who are looking for a luxury stay will love K11 ARTUS and we could not recommend it more.
