Healthy eating and living have been on the rise thanks to the growing universal demand for cleaner substitutes—a milestone that will still take years to accomplish fully. But what about the beauty industry? Hair salons like Emmanuel F and spas like Moksa Slow Beauty are on the bandwagon, supplying its customers with more eco-friendly processes and products. Another member of the eco-salon community comes boutique hub, Love Hair, founded by England-born Toni Ovenden. Striving to represent itself as an environmentally-conscious business—by minimising its carbon footprint wherever possible—the brand takes on several principles to ensure guests are welcomed with a sustainable heart. We visited the property to learn more about its services and to try the Olaplex conditioning treatment.

Location & Ethos
Love Hair is situated in bustling Central on a narrow street up on Wellington Street. The hair salon spans over two floors (third floor for staff) as a newly-renovated expansion from its previous one-floor space. Founder Toni Ovenden places emphasis on health and happiness for clients through its eco-conscious. Entering and leaving the salon shouldn’t leave you feeling guilty about unnecessary wasteful products and plastic that many other businesses still use. The furniture here is built from reclaimed wood shelving and screens and the flooring is made from eco-friendly practices.
Treatment
One very notable takeaway was the super friendly staff. I felt very welcomed from start to finish and everyone was very helpful. The Love Hair team is mostly British, Australian, Hong Kongers and New Zealanders—an international mix of knowledge. I tried the Olaplex hair conditioning treatment aimed at preventing hair damage and thus restoring any broken hair bonds which may have formed as a result of hair dyes and bleaching. The process started with a wash (with the treatment) followed by a soothing head massage—on one of the most comfortable hair salon beds I’ve ever lay on! I then had a haircut to help frame my face, at the fringe particularly, which was starting to grow out. This was followed by a blow-dry with a subtle wavy finish.
Results
My experience at Love Hair was blissful to say the least—followed by a healthy-looking blow-dry and finish for the rest of my day. The décor itself was very chic and modern, deep umber and plants here and there to align with its eco-concepts. One of their most popular treatments is the Balayage, which is worth a try for those looking to further embrace a sustainable lifestyle by supporting eco businesses.
