Sometimes you want an action-packed holiday checking out the local museums and landmarks, and sometimes you simply want to lounge by the pool or beach to soak up some sun with a great book in hand. If you’re looking for the latter, and looking to do it in style, Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort (Premier Village) should be on your radar. Here’s everything you need to know about this tranquil hotel.
The Location
Occupying the Ong Doi cape at the southeastern tip of Phu Quoc island, Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort is a five-star resort that offers a truly secluded tropical getaway immersed in the wonders of nature yet steeped in luxurious comforts. Its unique location on the promontory means that the resort is embraced by the ocean on both sides and boasts two beautiful white-sand beaches where you can enjoy both the sunrise and sunset over the ocean.
With several restaurants and bars, high-end facilities and various activities available for guests at the resort, you don’t actually need to leave the property at all during your stay, but should you want to venture out to explore the rest of Phu Quoc, it is fairly easy to visit other parts of the island by car.
The Villas
Instead of having rooms, Phu Quoc Premier Village has villas of varying sizes and locations, 215 to be exact, each strategically positioned along the beachfront, perched on the hilltop or on the rocks along the peninsula. Each freestanding villa is designed to be its own private haven where guests can unwind and immerse themselves in the beauty of their surroundings, featuring its own swimming pool, a living and dining room, a spacious kitchenette, and 3 or more bedrooms. This is aimed towards families and large groups rather than solo travellers or couples, but don’t let that stop you should you want to visit for a romantic getaway.
Our stay at the Eden Retreat Villa was nothing short of blissful. These newly built accommodations offer a serene sanctuary with stylish interiors, expansive living spaces complete with modern comfortable furnishings, and panoramic ocean views. A true exemplification of its name “retreat”, our villa seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living spaces with floor to ceiling glass windows and balconies in every room, providing dramatic vistas of the sparkling Emerald Bay. The outdoor pool and seating areas provide an idyllic spot for socializing or taking in the view.
While it is possible to walk around the resort, the sheer scale of the grounds means that golf buggies are used as the main mode of transport. We’re asked to download the resort app when we first check in, which comes with a resort map and a helpful messaging system that’s manned 24/7, which allows you to request a golf buggy to your villa or an extra bottle of water to your villa. Coming from Hong Kong where everything is about speed and efficiency, ordering and waiting for a golf buggy every time you want to head to breakfast or pop to the fitness centre takes some getting used to, but after a day or two, we accepted this as part of the experience, and embraced this slower pace of life (and the 25-minute walk).
Recreation and Wellness Activities
Whether you’ve come with young kids, active teens or elderly family members, there is a plethora of recreational activities to choose from. There are daily complimentary singing bowl workshops and morning yoga classes at the resort’s wellness centre, as well as a variety of beach activities and water sports, such as kayaking and snorkelling and land activities such as farm visits and traditional fishing.
Perched atop the hill with breathtaking sunset views, the Plumeria Spa is a serene oasis for guests seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. With eight treatment rooms, luxury spa suites, steam and sauna facilities, and stunning ocean vistas, the spa offers a range of signature treatments to reinvigorate the mind, body, and soul. Guests can also savour a Sunset Tea experience at the tranquil spa garden, surrounded by lush greenery and captivating views of the resort.
Located within the resort, King's Well is a significant cultural and religious site on Phu Quoc island. Legend has it that the well sprung forth during the Nguyen dynasty, providing fresh water to King Gia Long and his troops. This historical auspicious landmark symbolizes a connection to the island's rich heritage and traditions, offering guests a glimpse into Phu Quoc's storied past.
Restaurants and Bars
When it comes to wining and dining, Premier Village Phu Quoc leaves no stone unturned. From the vibrant flavours of Vietnamese cuisine at The Market to the beachfront elegance of the on-site Italian restaurant Corallo, guests can indulge in a culinary journey that celebrates the diverse tastes of the region. With themed dining events and a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the resort's restaurants offer a multitude of dining experiences that will keep your belly full and your thirst quenched.
The Swing Bar on the West beach offers a romantic and tranquil space where guests can enjoy cocktails and live music while taking in the sunset. On the East beach, Juice Bar provides a refreshing retreat, serving up a variety of freshly squeezed juices and tropical concoctions, perfect for a post-sunrise walk.
