Opened in 2020, Pullman’s flagship resort in Phu Quoc is one of the newer hotels on the island, aimed at the modern globetrotter in search of some serious beachfront fun. In this review, we break down what it’s like to stay in the Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort.
The Location
Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort is as conveniently located as they come, less than a 15 minute drive away from the airport and 20 minutes away from Phu Quoc's main town, Duong Dong. There’s also a popular night market 5-minutes away by car or within walking distance offering local seafood-based meals and shopping.
If you’re flying into Phu Quoc International Airport, you can take advantage of the hotel’s free shuttle service to and from the airport, although it only comes every hour and is first-come-first-serve so it is recommended to check the shuttle times and reserve your spot with the hotel prior to your trip. The resort also offers a complimentary shuttle bus to Duong Dong town every day, as well as a bicycle or motorbike rental service if you wish to do some exploring on your own.
The hotel itself is situated on Bai Truong (Long Beach) with over 15km of coastline on the southwest of the island, so it shares the same beach as several other five-star hotels such as the Regent Phu Quoc and Intercontinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort.
The Space and Facilities
Designed by Spanish architect and urban planner Salvador Pérez Arroyo, 80% of this seven-hectare vibrant eco-resort is covered with tropical greenery or golden sand, with spaces dedicated for both play and work in line with the Pullman brand philosophy.
In terms of the layout and facilities, the hotel is spacious and well equipped. The gym and spa are located in the hotel’s main building, along with three of the restaurants and one bar. As you come out of the main building, you have the garden and main swimming pool beckoning, while at the far end is the 150m stretch of the powdery white-sanded Long Beach.
The private section of beach is undoubtedly one of the best things about staying at the Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort. With its palm tree-lined white sand, the ocean and an interrupted view of the sunset, it was our favourite spot to spend a few hours in the late afternoon. There are also kayaks and SUP available if you fancy a paddle along the coast.
It's worth mentioning that it’s a very family-friendly resort. Next to the main swimming pool was the Splash Water Zone that was highly popular with the young ones, although we also saw many families hanging out in the shallow areas of the main pool as well.
The Rooms
The resort features 331 guest rooms all equipped with complimentary high-speed WiFi, a walk-in rain shower, a high-tech Japanese toilet and private balcony or garden terrace. There are also Cabana Pool Access rooms offering direct access to a shared pool, and Beachfront Pool Villas for those travelling with a big group.
Our Cabana Pool Access Room was located close to the beach, or a 5-minute walk away from the main hotel building and swimming pool. It was a good size for two people, tastefully decorated with contemporary and modern furnishings. We loved the outdoor terrace complete with two comfortable sofas, and spent most mornings here taking in the garden views and sea breeze. The bathroom comes with a separate wet room comprising of a rain shower and jacuzzi bath tub.
The Restaurants and Bars
The hotel has six bespoke culinary offerings on site include three restaurants and three bars: Salt 'n' Pepper, an all-day restaurant that offers buffet and a-la-carte menu options with a fresh selection of international dishes and local dishes. It is also where guests come for their buffet breakfast. Just outside Salt 'n' Pepper is the al fresco Sea Stars Marketplace, where guests can enjoy a selection of grilled seafood delights.
The rooftop Mad Cow Wine & Grill offers surf and turf with an impressive wine list and an amazing view of the entire resort and ocean, while the resort’s beachside restaurant and bar The Beach House offers a range of western and Asian snacks and a good selection of drinks to enjoy while taking in the sunset.
During our stay, we enjoyed dinner at Sea Stars Marketplace. While Sea Stars has a limited menu, you can also choose dishes from the adjacent Salt 'n' Pepper. For our dinner, Sea Stars Marketplace served up Louisiana-style Cajun Boiled Seafood, a hearty Mongolian BBQ Seafood & Noodle and white-wine steamed black mussels to showcase the best seafood of the season. We highly recommend having a glass of wine or two to pair with the seafood.
