SHHH Salon has been around for longer than you probably think. The luxury salon was once a private venue, frequented by celebrities, royals, and the elite, all of which are regulars looking to get their haircare fix in a secluded setting. Only recently has it opened itself to the public—although it remains an appointment-only salon—SHHH continues to reign in customers from near and far through its positive word-of-mouth recommendations.
Owned and run by world-renowned Marvin Lin, the salon exudes warm hospitality and top-of-the-range services. We swung by the hidden gem to try the unique OMG Advanced Anti-Ageing Treatment, to repair and nourish her locks—and the results were as spectacular as she could’ve expected.

Location
SHHH Salon is a truly hidden gem. Tucked away on Hollywood Road towards Sheung Wan, the hair salon plants itself behind a nondescript haircut logo signpost—you’d have to be looking for it to find it—and it’s by-appointment-only, anyway. The luxe one-stop hair haven is decked in minimalistic, contemporary interiors designed by a Japanese firm.
Celebrity Hair Stylist: Marvin Lin
Marvin Lin is the brains and scissors behind SHHH salon. As the creative director of her own luxury salon, Lin’s background in hair care goes far beyond just providing a service. She believes in supporting sustainability wherever possible (the newly-launched packaging for OMG is made from recycled plastic), she only supplies the best quality products, which include her own hair care line and the range of Trudon candles, hair combs and Swarovski-embellished hair clips.

Concept
Shhh was born upon the principle of “hair wellbeing”, where hair is seen as more than just styling. It’s about the health and wealth of the hair. Every strand of hair is nourished and cherished with the homegrown brand OMG setting the bar on salon standards. Clients can choose to come in for the OMG treatment or take it home—or both.

The Treatment
I tried the OMG Advanced Anti-Ageing treatment (HK$3,300), a unique and exclusive service available only at SHHH salon. All the products in the range are formulated and curated by Creative Director Marvin Lin, who made trips across Asia, especially Japan, to find the perfect ingredients for the formulae.

The 75-90 minute treatment is completely left to the stylist to work on—arrive at the salon, make your way to the hair washing area, where a special surprise awaits (we were told to keep it on the hush so that customers can experience it when they arrive).

I was lucky enough to experience the private room, which clients can book for full privacy. The space is small and intimate but has enough room to feel warm and homey. After settling into the room, I was asked to start with the wash, which comprised of the SHHH secret recipe, infused with exclusive plant stem cells. The treatment is an in-house extension of SHHH’s home care products, which clients can use at any time in the comfort of their everyday routine. Every product in the OMG haircare range is developed at an established lab in Japan and manufactured in Tokyo. Products are 90% natural and are available for men and women of all ages.

I sat back and my stylist began the treatment. It started with a 30-minute lush wash, using each step of the OMG treatment. It felt extremely soothing and my stylist also managed to heal my dry scalp, which previously had bits of dandruff from the sudden weather change between humid summer and cool autumn. After the OMG treatment, I was escorted back to the private room and sat down ready for the final look. My stylist expertly blowdried my hair after spritzing my locks with a heat protectant, and once finished, I peered at the final result.

Results
Sometimes, when you get a hair treatment, it’s difficult to notice the physical difference, even if you know the internal benefits are stellar. At SHHH, I noticed immediate results. My hair was suddenly a lot more shiny, not oily, but sleek yet bouncy.

I realised that my hair over the past few years has lessened, as a result of age and stress. But with this healing remedy, my locks definitely felt stronger, even though it’s still much thinner than it was before. Marvin explained to me the importance of hair care and how it’s like “going to the gym”—with regular maintenance, the healthier the hair. At SHHH Salon, the stylists provide a luxe service without compromising instant results. The price may set some back at HK$3,300, but when matched with the OMG haircare range (at an additional price) to continue the routine at home, it’s well worth the splurge.
