IRELAND

Situated on the rolling grounds of Castlemartyr Resort, Chef Vincent Crepel's gastronomic vision comes to life. Terre unites French artistry with South East Asian vibrancy, housed in the traditional Irish facade of an 18th-century manor house. Celebrating the fresh flavours found on Ireland's land and seas, Terre sources the finest seasonal ingredients which are elevated by the mastery of Chef Vincent Crepel, from years of French culinary training. Since opening two years ago, Terre has garnered some serious buzz, achieving its first Michelin star within six months of opening and a second just a year later. With deep-rooted knowledge and understanding of creating visually complex dishes, complimented by profound flavours, Chef Vincent Crepel is a trusted authority of all things culinary. Drawing inspiration from his explorations of the Basque region and South East Asia, alongside his fostered roots in Ireland, his global perspective on flavour combinations shapes the award-winning menu of this exceptional restaurant.

Chef Vincent Crepel, the brainpower behind Terre, sat down with CSP Times to discuss his top 5 restaurants in and around Cork.

The Glass Curtain

This is one of my absolute favourites. It is always packed, and for a very good reason. Consistency is also something very important to many people, myself included, and this restaurant is consistently delicious and the flavours are bold and well executed. The service and atmosphere of the glass curtain is the perfect balance between being relaxed and professional making it a great go to spot.

Cush

Just 15 minutes from my restaurant Terre you can find restaurant Cush. It is located right on the pier where we often source our shellfish from small boats. Whether it's a special evening or a casual family meal, the team always delivers great work, serving fish straight from the waters just a stones throw away. The atmosphere and setting make it a truly special spot.

Miyazaki

For Japanese street food and takeout, this place is unparalleled. Michelin-starred chef Takashi Miyazaki brings bold and exciting flavours to casual dining. A personal favourite of mine is their ponzu fried chickenthat is to die for. It’s my top choice when craving something quick but high-quality, I find myself there more than I should admit.

Asador

Asador is a more relaxed and lowkey option. It is open daily and has a great and broad selection. The chef here does an amazing job, ensuring great quality and flavours each time. Their setup for cooking meat over a proper fire is on point and very impressive. Perfect for a laid-back meal with flavours that will never let you down.

Ballymaloe Cookery School Café & Shop

Ballymore is not just a legendary cookery school but also a gem for beautifully crafted goods. Their shop sells incredible products made by the students ranging from fresh dairy products to artisanal butter. My favourite is their pecan pie tart with coffee, its a must. It's the perfect stop for high-quality, homemade food.
