The Guardsman Hotel Review – A Sumptuous Five Star Hotel Blending Classic British Charm with Modern Luxury

LONDON

In a bustling city known for its rich history and vibrant culture, The Guardsman Hotel in London is one of a new generation of hotels quietly paving the way for discrete luxury hospitality. Located on a Westminster side street a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace, the Guardsman’s grey brick façade and discreet signage blends in from the street level compared to its more opulent neighbours. However, once you step inside, you’ll quickly see what makes this five-star residence one of the best luxury boutique hotels in London.

The front doors open to a small reception area and from here you are led to the grand yet intimate feeling drawing-room. With the overhead chandeliers, Persian rugs underfoot, a gorgeous fireplace and an array of velvet sofas and armchairs, it exudes a sense of subtle sophistication, reminiscent of an exclusive member’s club rather than an extravagant over-the-top palace or a bustling hotel.

The property boasts a total of 53 guest rooms, with six private residences located across the top three floors, a drawing room, library, restaurant and bar. After a welcome drink, you’re shown to your room by the attentive reception staff.

The guest rooms themselves are spacious and comes with a large double bed, an integrated TV door, a mini bar area and a beautiful black and white marble bathroom.

In addition to being equipped with a generously sized shower, the heated floors in the bathroom are a lovely touch, and comes in handy especially when it comes to London’s colder winter months.

Dining

Once you’re feeling peckish after a day of exploring the city, The Guardsman Hotel's on-site restaurant, the Dining Room, is open 24-hours a day for hotel guests only serving up classic British fare or your favourite drink. Replete with luxurious décor, rich marble flooring and elegant Art Deco glass panels to match the rest of the hotel, the Dining Room is accessible either via lift or a spectacular metal winding staircase which is a work of art in its own right.

The seasonal menu showcases the finest quality British ingredients, from the classic 'Guardsman Ale' Battered Haddock and Chips to the mouthwatering Gourmet Guardsman Burger. Beyond the delectable cuisine, the restaurant's warm ambiance and attentive service make it the perfect spot to unwind.

As expected for its prestigious St James location, the room rates might raise an eyebrow, but the suave British vibe, the stylish yet wonderfully comfortable rooms and its close proximity to many of the main London attractions makes the Guardsman Hotel a must stay for your next visit to London or special celebration.
